Description of Book |
Note: This is an extremely limited edition, and will sell out soon. If you tried to put together all these auction fliers, it would take years and several hundred dollars. I agreed to help sell this book, b/c I feel it is a very important work. |

Joe Macic Flint Ridge Dovetail |
Size: 3 5/8" long
Provenance: Ohio. X: Joe Macic #404. Does anyone have his catalog for further provenance?
Condition: Museum. As more fakes end up in collections, no brainer authentic specimens like this one will continue to value up. There isn't a collector worth his salt who wouldn't call this piece old from across the room. Oh yeah, it is perfect, and highly translucent flint ridge chalcedony.

Summit County Ohio Paleo Knife |
Size: 3 5/8" long
Provenance: Summit County, Ohio. X: Copeland.
Condition: Super. Paleo tools are probably the most unique of all prehistoric forms. They all share some traits, but all have their own personal touch. This one is no different. I put it on the 1st page, b/c I think it is a great example, made from great material, and a top notch early name behind it.

Sonora Dovetail - Notched Base/Serrated Variety |
Size: 3 5/8" long x 1 9/16" wide
Provenance: Hart County, Kentucky. Piece was in the famous Clem Caldwell Collection, and distributed in 2004 by Rocky Hall.
Condition: Super. I call this one "Beauty and the Beast". It has amazing beauty in a vibrant color pallat juxtaposed with wicked cutting/killing features needed for the prehistoric man. That sentence seems to sum it up. Email me with questions or requests for more pictures.

other angles |
It was dificult to picture the colors on this piece, b/c the flint is of such a high grade that the flash creates "burn-out" reflections from nearly every angle. |

Expanded Center Gorget |
Size: 4 3/4" long x 13/16" wide
Provenance: New London, Ohio.
Condition: Excellent. There are so many of these Adena gorgets that are undrilled, many have wondered if they didn't need to be drilled to be considered finished. I don't have an answer to this, but this one is undrilled. It does have 2 "tap" holes on the backside. A very rare red, brown and black slate.

Sonora Pinetree |
Size: 2 3/4" long.
Provenance: Purchased from the grandson of the finder. Found near Xenia, Ohio(Almost above the Northern end of the distribution on Sonora). I have finder info and family information to buyer. COA'd by Tom Davis in the late 1990's.
Condition: Super. Zero damage with very delicate ears. There is a large quartz crystal on one side that the maker just worked into the piece(a very cool feature). The sonora is a choclate brown with blue swirls. Towards the center of the base, one of these blue inclusions wraps around like a vortex. The flash obscured the area, but I can re-picture it. This is the finest pinetree I have ever owned.

Purple Flint Ridge- Intrusive Mound Point |

Provenance: Pickaway County, Ohio. I bought this from an old Ohio estate that ended up in Florida. Many of my finest pieces came from this wonderful collection.
Condition: Super. I call this piece Intrusive Mound, but it may be classed as a Hopewell. I do know this about the piece, it is considered a top collector piece with almost unrivaled color and form. I recently saw a lesser example sell for huge $'s at a Converse Auction.

"The Snake" |
Size: Varies, longest is just shy of 3 inches. There are 129 pieces in the frame.
Provenance: Collected over a 15 year period by my good friend Mike Hollan. Pieces were chosen for their locality to Northern Kentucky/Southern Ohio. These pieces were cherry picked from numerous high quality Fort Ancient collections.
Condition: Museum. The shape of this display conforms loosely to the curves of Serpant Mound. I consider it a cross collectible that will attract the most discriminating artifact collector and general art lovers. This collection was put together slowly over time, and represents an outstanding achievement.
Price: $2000 for everything except 5 pieces near Fort Ancient pendant. 5 points SOLD remainder still available. |

I can take more pictures of individual pieces. This shot shows about 25 pieces. Notice the extremely high quality of each example. I strongly feel this collection is worth significantly more than the asking price if broken up and pieced out. However, the owner wants to sell them as a group, so that is what I am doing. |

Jewel Flint Ridge Dovetail |
Size: 3 1/8" long x 1 7/16" wide
Provenance: Crooksville, Ohio. Perry County
Condition: Excellent. I was almost at a loss for words when I first viewed this piece. I hadn't seen another with this jewel(literally) Flint Ridge that combined such great patination and obvious age. I did finally one other published piece that was almost as beautiful. It was a Max Shipley piece pictured in color in Ohio Dovetails. It is not perfect with a few side dings towards the tip. If perfect, I would venture to say it would set price records for its size. Still one of the finest pieces I have sold.

Fractured Base Dovetail - Rarest of all Dove forms |
Size: 2 7/8” long x 1 7/16” wide
Provenance: Found near Munfordville, KY by one of two Harrison brothers. 1950-1980 on the find years. I have some more family history if you want it. Bill Jackson COA from 2003.
Condition: Perfect. Fractured base dovetails are the most rare of all dove forms. There are two hard spots(quartz inclusions) near the tip on both sides of the point that the prehistoric knapper could not work off. He ended up beveling the top 1/2" area at a very steep angle. It has created a very unique resharpening pattern that I really enjoy. This piece was has been in my personal collection for a long time.

Condition: Museum Grade. Here is a point made from the ultimate type of Flint Ridge. Seldom ever seen, and rarely photographed. This one is well mineralized with excellent raised deposits. Perfect form that sells for big bucks at auctions. Check out the translucent shots.
